- What Are the Five Best Places to Live in Brantford?
Brantford has been quietly climbing the list of desirable places to live in southwestern Ontario. Compared to other parts of the GTA, housing here remains more affordable, and the city offers a strong mix of parks, schools, trails, and community spirit. Highway 403 connects residents to major employment centres in under an hour, while VIA Rail and GO Transit provide public transit options.
Being a dentist in Brantford at Lifetime Dental, we are proud to serve families across all of these communities and the rest of Brantford. There are so many nice places to live here (we are biased) but here are five neighbourhoods that stand out, in our opinion, for anyone looking to put down roots in Brant County.

What Are the Five Best Places to Live in Brantford?
1. Holmedale
Holmedale is consistently ranked among the most desirable neighbourhoods in Brantford, and it is easy to see why. Located along the Grand River on the city’s south side, this area features winding trails, Waterworks Park, and the SC Johnson Rail Trail connecting Brantford to Paris. Some homes back directly onto the forest or river, offering a sense of nature that is rare in a city setting. Families benefit from well-regarded schools, including the French Immersion program at École Dufferin.Â
2. West Brant
If newer construction and modern amenities are your priority, West Brant delivers. This rapidly growing area features homes built mostly after 2010, with parks, playgrounds, and reputable schools within walking distance. Detached homes make it one of the more accessible options for young families in southern Ontario. Community events keep the neighbourhood lively, and everyday shopping is close at hand.
3. Brier Park and Greenbrier
Sitting north of Highway 403, these side-by-side neighbourhoods are a top pick for commuters and us because the neighbourhood is right next to us. The highway on-ramp is minutes away, making the drive to Hamilton or the GTA straightforward. Brier Park is a mature, quiet area with big trees and top-rated school catchments. Greenbrier offers a good blend of housing types and sits close to King George Road’s shops and restaurants. So convenient and very relaxing!
4. Eagle Place
Eagle Place is one of Brantford’s best-kept secrets for first-time buyers. Surrounded on three sides by the Grand River, this neighbourhood is undergoing a visible transformation with new builds, and rising property values. Mohawk Park, one of the largest green spaces in the city, features a splash pad and playground that families love. Proximity to downtown Brantford means restaurants, cafes, and Harmony Square are just minutes away.Â
5. Shellard Lane
Southwest Brantford’s (after Grand River) Shellard Lane area is one of the city’s fastest-growing communities. Most homes here were built after 2018, giving buyers access to energy-efficient construction and modern floor plans. The school district is strong, parks and walking paths are built into the development, and everyday essentials are a short drive away.
Highway 403 is accessible within 10 minutes, keeping commute times manageable for professionals working in Hamilton or Kitchener.
Brantford’s 2021 census population of approximately 104,688 reflects steady growth, and these neighbourhoods are high on our list.
