Soft Tissue Management

Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease, affects up to 70% of adults over the age of 30. It begins with the formation of plaque (bacteria) at the gum line. Over time the plaque hardens into calcium deposits called tartar. If not removed, the tartar can cause an infection and inflammation of the gums (gingivitis). The infection can eventually break down the gum tissue and spread to the underlying bone.

Soft tissue management aims to control periodontal disease, or gum disease, and eliminate inflammation and infection in the gums. At Lifetime Dental we take your gum health seriously and during your regular check ups our skilled team will carefully examine your gums to assess you condition accurately and recommend the right treatment to help bring it under control.

Treating oral inflammation can help manage periodontal disease and may also help manage other chronic conditions. The connection between periodontal disease and heart disease is well proven and document and must not be left untreated.
