Persistent toothache that won’t respond to painkillers

If ibuprofen and acetaminophen aren’t touching the pain, the problem has likely progressed beyond what home remedies can manage. This usually means the nerve inside the tooth is inflamed or dying, or an abscess is forming at the root tip. The sooner you get in, the more likely we can save the tooth with a straightforward procedure rather than an extraction.

Tooth knocked loose or displaced

A tooth that’s been pushed inward, pulled outward, or shifted sideways from an impact needs repositioning within hours. If left too long, the bone around the tooth begins to set in the wrong position, making correction much harder. Bite down gently on a soft cloth to stabilize it and get to our office immediately.

Broken denture or removable appliance

A cracked denture isn’t just an inconvenience — sharp edges can cut your gums and cheeks, and an ill-fitting broken denture can cause sores that become infected. Don’t try to superglue it. Bring the pieces in and we can assess whether a repair or reline is possible same-day.

Object stuck between teeth

It sounds minor, but a piece of food, popcorn hull, or foreign object wedged between teeth can cause intense pain, swelling, and even abscess if it pushes bacteria below the gumline. If floss won’t remove it, don’t force it with sharp tools — come in and we’ll remove it safely.

Post-procedure complication

If you’ve recently had dental work elsewhere and something doesn’t feel right — excessive bleeding, a dry socket after extraction, pain that’s getting worse instead of better — you don’t need to wait for your original dentist to have an opening.
